Back to College

I spent Monday, August 13, helping my son, Tommy, move back into the dorm at Georgia Tech. It was exciting yet a little sad at the same time. It was great to see my son so excited about his new dorm. He is sharing an apartment on campus with three other students. North Avenue Apartments were the facilities used to house the athletes during the 1996 Summer Olympic Games. They are really nice and each of the boys has their own bedroom. They have a full kitchen and living areas as well. Tommy gets to enjoy a week of Band Camp and then back to classes next Monday.

Here I have pictures of the quilts I made for Tommy and his best friend, Rhys. I made these last year as graduation gifts for the boys. Anyone from Georgia will notice that the best friends decided to attend rival schools! Yellow Jackets vs. Bulldogs! They still remain friends! Tommy's quilt has begun to show the wear and tear you would expect from being used everyday by a college student. I think there will be another Ga. Tech quilt for me to make in the somewhat near future. That's okay--my favorite quilt shop has recently gotten some new Georgia Tech fabric!

A Stitch of Faith!

Hello, my name is Lisa Brooks. Welcome to the first posting of "A Stitch of Faith" weblog. I decided to create this blog as a way to share pictures of my machine embroidered gifts that I sell through my home based embroidery business. I also would like to include tips and ideas related to machine embroidery and quilting.

I began "A Stitch of Faith" in January 2007, after buying my new Babylock BMP6 from A Scarlet Thread sewing and quilt store. A Scarlet Thread is located in McDonough, Ga and just celebrated its 1st anniversary. The store is owned by Karen and Ken Taylor. Karen and Ken's store is growing so fast that they are busting at the seams and are actively seeking a bigger store. If you live in the suburban Atlanta area, you must check out this innovative and exciting shop.

I have been personalizing diaper bags a lot lately. This week alone, I have mailed out about 15 bags. The most popular, by far, has been this brown quilted bag with pink polka dot ribbon. Many of my customers also order the pink toile diaper bag.

Here is a picture of my good friend, Nora, modeling her new bag for baby Lily after the baby shower.

Also popular are the diaper covers/baby bloomers. These make perfect gifts. They really create quite a stir at a baby shower when your gift is opened!
